Angela Darlington, Group Chief Risk Officer of Aviva Plc. and Vice Chair of the CRO Forum in 2018, has been elected CRO Forum Chair for 2019.

Angela is the Group Chief Risk Officer for Aviva Plc, a position she has held since July 2015. She is responsible for leading the Risk Function at a Group level and is a member of the Group Executive team. Angela is a Fellow of the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries and has 29 years of insurance industry experience both at Aviva and as an actuarial consultant working for William M. Mercer and Bacon & Woodrow.

Angela is passionate about diversity and was named in the Top 20 LGBT executives in the 2018 FT list of LGBT role models.

Commenting on her new role as Chair in 2019, Angela said: “In a period of heightened uncertainty from so many diverse sources ranging from politics to technology to climate change, the role of the CRO Forum in debating and disseminating best practice is hugely important. It is a great honour to take on the role of Chair of the CRO Forum as we continue to focus on making the insurance industry resilient to these risks.”

Jan-Hendrik Erasmus, Chief Risk Officer of NN Group and Vice Chairman of the CRO Forum in 2018 will continue serving his two-year term as Vice Chairman in 2019.

Jan-Hendrik was appointed to the Management Board of NN Group as of September 2016 and is the CRO of NN Group. Previously, he was a partner at Oliver Wyman’s Financial Services business, Head of the UK Insurance Practice and a member of the European Leadership Team. Jan- Hendrik Erasmus has more than 15 years’ experience in the financial services industry spanning insurance, risk, technology and investment management in the UK and internationally. He is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and holds an Executive MBA from London Business School.

 

Frieder Knüpling, Group Chief Risk Officer of SCOR has been elected as Vice Chairman of the CRO Forum, beginning in 2019.

Frieder has been a member of SCOR’s Executive Committee since 2010, and Group Chief Risk Officer since January 2014. He has 20 years of professional experience in international reinsurance, having held various actuarial, risk management and business roles at Gerling Global Re, Revios and SCOR. He serves on the boards of a number of SCOR’s main operating entities. Frieder holds degrees in Mathematics and Physics and a PhD in Economics, and is a fellow of the Deutsche Aktuarvereinigung (DAV) and a Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA).

 

 

The CRO Forum would like to thank Patrick Raaflaub, Chief Risk Officer of Swiss Re, for chairing the CRO Forum in 2018. With Patrick as Chairman, the CRO Forum advanced the CRO agenda in key discussions on risk management. Under his chairmanship, the CRO Forum published various papers, including ‘Supporting on-going capture and sharing of digital event data’ and ‘Major trends and emerging risk radar’.
